GC TERMS, CONDITIONS, AND POLICIES

Home / GC TERMS, CONDITIONS, AND POLICIES

GC POLICY

A.  Fabric Policies

1.  Delicate Garments

Garments with embellishments such as beads, sequins, or delicate prints carry an inherent risk of damage during processing. While we exercise due skill and care, Garment Care will not be liable for any damage arising from the fragile nature of such items.

2.  Colour Run

Certain garments may contain non–colour-fast dyes that can cause colours to bleed during cleaning. Although every effort will be made to minimize this, Garment Care will not accept liability for damage caused by colour run, or colour spill and/or colour transfer in the case of a multi-coloured garment.

3.  Wet Cleaning

Where a garment is labelled dry-clean only but contains water-soluble stains and garment dye not colour-fast with the dry-cleaning solvent, improved results may be achieved through wet cleaning. This process carries risks, including possible shrinkage or colour loss. Customers who opt for this service acknowledge these risks, and Garment Care will not be liable for any resulting damage.

4.  Curtains

Curtains are prone to up to 6% shrinkage and may suffer discoloration, tears, and/or yarn slippage due to fabric weakening caused by long exposure to the elements of weather (e.g., UV light from sun exposure, mildew from humid environments). These outcomes are linked to the nature of curtains, conditions of usage, age, and duration of usage, and not to the cleaning process. Shrinkage may self-correct once rehung, and in some cases, additional hemming adjustments may be necessary.

For trampoline curtains: Kindly note that due to long exposure to UV light, trampoline curtains and linings tend to further degrade during the cleaning process. Damages such as discoloration, tear or sticking and gumming of fabric become apparent after cleaning.

B.  Leather & Accessories Policies

1.  Handbags and Shoes

Handbags and shoes are manufactured primarily for fashion and utility, not deep cleaning. As a result, outcomes may be limited by factors such as heavy wear, ingrained soiling, non–colour-fast dyes, scratches, or structural materials (e.g., stiffeners) breaking down. While Garment Care applies expert handling, satisfactory results cannot be guaranteed.

2.  Garment Care Ltd – Leather Works Policy

At Garment Care Ltd, we apply the highest level of skill and attention in handling all leather items, including shoes, bags, suitcases, wallets, and belts. Due to the unique nature of leather, the following conditions apply:

i.  Delicate or Worn Leather: Older or fragile items may be prone to wear, tear, or breakage during service, especially where repair is attempted instead of replacement.

ii.  Pre-existing Conditions: Scratches, stains, discoloration, or marks present before service will be documented and are not the responsibility of Garment Care Ltd.

iii.  Sensitive or Luxury Items: Vintage, designer, or high-end leather may react unpredictably to cleaning or repair, and outcomes may vary.

iv.  Limitation of Liability: While every effort will be made to achieve the best result, Garment Care Ltd will not be held liable for damage resulting from pre-existing conditions, natural wear, or material limitations.

C.  General Policies

1.  Payment Policy

Garment Care operates a 100% prepayment policy. Customers are required to pay the full value of their cleaning bill at the point of drop-off.

2.  Extreme Value Items

Garments declared to have a high monetary value will be processed under VIP supervision, with extra care and diligence. An additional service charge will apply.

3.  Claims Policy

While we take pride in providing excellent service, in rare cases a customer’s garment may be lost or damaged. In such cases, the following applies:

  • All complaints must be reported within two (2) weeks of collection, with the tags displaying the order number and the slip outlining the garment’s condition.
  • Customers must complete a claims form stating the item lost or damaged, purchase details, and store of purchase.
  • Monetary compensation will only be given upon production of a valid purchase receipt. No cash payments will be made.
  • Where no receipt is produced, compensation will be limited to 30% of the verified value (e.g., via internet or otherwise).
  • For garments less than one year old and in good condition: 60% of the purchase price will be given (with receipt).
  • For garments more than one year old and in good condition: 40% of the purchase price will be given (with receipt).
  • For garments in poor condition: 20% of the purchase price will be given (with receipt).
  • For garments of extreme value (≥ $500 or equivalent), customers must declare and complete the “Extreme Value Form” at the point of reception.

4.   Anti-Drug Policy

In line with the provisions of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, Garment Care reserves the right to disclose and surrender any illegal substances discovered in client garments to the appropriate authorities.

Consent

Where necessary, a customer consent form capturing the relevant policies is to be signed at the point of drop-off, particularly for services or items carrying special risk.
